Fighting a Kickboxing Champion!

Once a long time ago I participated in the very popular karatips forum . I recently visited the now deserted forum and found this very hilarious exchange - one of the posters had to fight a friend who was a kickboxing champ. Enjoy...

First of all, how did you manage to get into a fight with a kickboxing champ? As far as suggestions go, I've never fought a kickboxing champ so I can't help you much there. I would suggest exercise, exercise, and more exercise. You will need a lot of strength and endurance to keep up with this guy. Next, think about something that makes your style unique. Try to surprise him and catch him off guard. You'll need to dig way deep into your bag of tricks for this one. Good luck.

All the kick boxers i've ever fought tended to go for high kicks. If he tries that go for his supporting leg, also try to get in close (but on the side so you don't get kneed) and use you elbows. Hope that helps.

What do you hope to figure out from this board that you can't figure out on your own? You've just got to fight him like you fight everyone. Trying to be something that you're not might imperil him, but yourself too.

Now if you're asking about a game plan, that's a totally separate story.

Kick his thigh.
Kick his thigh.
Look as though you're going for the thigh but kick his nuts.
Then kick his thigh.
Then kick his nuts.
Then when he tries something, kick his knee.
Then ridge hand to his head.
Then kick his nuts again.
If you're really flexible, you can even try kicking him in his head!
Then go low and punch him in his nuts.
Slip into his defence and ridge hand into his head.
Grab his hair.
Bend him over.
Kick him in his head.
Did I mention headbutt? Headbutt him.
Or go behind him.
Bring him down.
Choke him out.
If he tries to kick you, punch his leg.
Or kick his support leg.
Grab his kicking leg. Bring him down.
He's going to punch and kick you in the body and head. Cover up for goodness sake. Tuck your chin in.

:-)

Colin

ps. Did I mention that when he kicks you in the head you should kick him in the nuts???

DON'T FORGET TO KICK HIM IN THE NUTS!

Champions love that. When they fight in competitions they get so bound by the rules that when you offer them a refreshing 'break' ... they will enjoy the bout much more! :-)

I kick my friends in the nuts all the time! :-)

But ... our rules are a little more ... forgiving.

I'm sure he'll think it's refreshing. ;-)

And at the end of the session, say ... "that's with compliments of Colin Wee from the karatetips.com forum!"

Circle him. Side step and go in circles around him, then slip in a punch or two ro three, then nail him a few good times. Just be sure to shuffle circles around him, kickers hate this because it forces them to turn every time they want to kick you, then you have one other option, punches and then you'll know those are coming. If you want to disable him kick to his sciatic nerve in his leg, that sohuld numb his leg, keep going for it. To disable his arm, well first hold out your arm like you were going to shake somebody's hand...now feel the bone on the top side of your arm? Hit or chop that and tell me how it feels. If you chop or hit that hard enough it will cause lotsa pain and can disable your arm for a minute. If you can pull this off, disable all his limbs, then liek Colin said kick him in the nuts...HARD.

If he tries any spinning movements (kicks, backfist, etc) just bump into him, your body against his, if you do this just as his back is turning to you, you can knock him off balance, then Kick 'im in the nuts.

Ouch!!......If you are going to strike someone hard enough to break a cup then I think the whole idea of "sparring" is out the window.

Personally, I'm more refreshed with a nice cold pint of frothy ale rather than a boot to the gonads. But hey, to each his own...I always say =|)

You're not trying to maim him.

Our rules are simple: anywhere except the eyes and throat. Control to the knees. However, we can kick to the groin, knees (w/ control), and of course the head. We can go for hair pulls. All this makes for some interesting bouts. So yes, we do go for the groin. And we do wear cups. The cups protect you from severe pain but do not remove the effect of the strike.

If you have a problem with the groin, try the immediate side of groin or top of groin. Otherwise you can try the perinium area - that area between the groin and the anus. All this makes your opponent think real hard about kicking you in the head. A great plus when you're fighting a competition fighter.

(I'm still laughing over all this!)

I have to agree with Colin, most definately!
Although I don't have "nuts", it would really impede my concentration and strength if I DID have them and I was nailed there repeatedly (as Colin suggested), I'm sure!
Aside from this fact, I'm on the sidelines, but I'm shouting, too...
"Nuts!" =|)
(I didn't check the date of your fight...if it has already past, I'm hoping you went for the nuts!)
Best of luck... :)

Hahahhaha ...

I think the game plan would be to pull out stuff that the guy is not used to. Talk to him, feign stupidity or ignorance, cajole him, break his concentration, etc. Miyamoto Musashi believed that no matter how good your opponent is or thinks he is, in the end, your opponent is human with human failings.

I am definitely not nuts (pardon the pun). The rules we use sparring do cause a certain a level of surprise - even with those that think they're more 'hard core' fighters. This is because people take time to get used to the new 'game'.

But yes ... we joke about the nuts issue all the time, but really, it's tough to kick when someone's sidekicking or roundkicking you in the nuts.
